Lindegaard eyes No 1 spot

Anders Lindegaard remains hopeful of a regular role at Old Trafford after a string of good performances, The Daily Mail reports. Lindegaard made his sixth appearance of the season in Manchester United’s 5-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday.

Lindegaard has yet to concede a goal in the Premier League for Manchester United and has made five appearances in a row without conceding. David De Gea was signed in the summer from Atletico Madrid and is expected to resume his usual role in goal for Boxing Day against Wigan.

The Danish goalkeeper insists that he will continue to perform well when he comes in and hopes that Sir Alex Ferguson notices. Lindegaard also tipped his side to come good in the New Year and challenge for their 20th league title.

Lindegaard said: “I hope I am giving the manager a problem. In 10 matches, nobody will remember any of the saves, they will remember the statistics. I have played five games in a row without letting a goal in. That is a very beautiful stat and one I am very happy with.
