Liverpool are believed to be ready to bid for Universidad de Chile striker Eduardo Vargas when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to The
Reds manager Kenny Dalglish sent a scout to watch the Chilean forward in action last weekend and it is rumoured that negotiations have already begun over the move.
However, Dalglish will face competition from Arsenal and Internazionale for the 22-year-old, who is valued at around £15 million by his current club.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have shown their willingness to splash the cash on attacking talent in the past, spending almost £58 million to sign Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll earlier this year.
However, the side has struggled in front of goal this season, and it may prove that they soon turn to Vargas in an attempt to bolster their strike-force.
