Liverpool favourites to land highly-rated Zaha

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are favourites to sign Crystal Palace teenager Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window.

Zaha terrorised Manchester United’s backline in Palace’s shock 2-1 Carling Cup win at Old Trafford in midweek. Premier League scouts have kept a keen eye on the 19 year old for some time, but that performance has attracted more attention than before. Liverpool are ready to table a £5m bid for the Palace youngster, but face competition from a host of Premier League sides. Tottenham, West Brom, Stoke City and Fulham are all ready to make bids to try and bring the highly rated youngster to their club.

Zaha himself is looking for big things from his footballing career and has shown a confidence that will attract Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli. Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish will have the final say on the deal and he himself is dreaming of a ‘fairytale’ Carling Cup final with Liverpool. Palace overcame Liverpool 4-3 in the FA Cup semi-final in 1990 and Parish has admitted his soft spot for the Merseysiders.
