Liverpool have beaten off interest from Manchester United and Tottenham to sign Wycombe wonderkid Jordan Ibe, according to The
The 16 year old has bursted into the Wanderers first team so far this season and his goal against Sheffield Wednesday in the Football League made him the youngest-ever scorer. Ibe scored just 10 days short of his 16th birthday back in October and has attracted the interest of a host of top flight clubs.
The fee is believed to be around £500,000 and Ibe will complete his final year at secondary school in South London before making the move to Merseyside next summer. Wycombe captain Gareth Ainsworth had encouraged the 16 year old to continue his development at Adams Park, but the club thought otherwise. The controversial Elite Player Performance Plan has forced Wycombe’s hand in terms of making a sizeable amount of money from Ibe. The EPPP seriously reduces the amount of money Football League clubs receive for their young prospects.
Ibe last appeared for Wycombe in a 4-3 defeat away at MK Dons last weekend and that leaves the newly promoted Londoners in a scrap for relegation in League One.
