Lucas confirms season-long injury

Lucas Leiva has vowed to come back stronger than ever after suffering a season ending injury against Chelsea in midweek, The Liverpool Echo reports.

The Liverpool midfielder suffered a cruciate ligament injury and that has ended his season, which will come as bad news to both him and the Reds fans. Lucas has been magnificent for Kenny Dalglish so far this season and has revolutionised himself in the central midfield anchor role. Lucas, a Brazilian international, will undergo surgery on his left knee and Tweeted his thoughts on the problem. The £7m signing from Gremio in 2007 has won over Reds fans who doubt him with some tough displays including a fantastic performance in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

‘Hi all. Just to confirm that I will be out until the rest of the season. I am really sad with the news because I was enjoying a lot on the pitch. I am sure I will come back stronger and I will achieve everything that I dream with the LFC shirt. I am sure I’ll never walk alone’, tweeted the Brazilian.
