McEachran set for Bolton loan as part of Cahill deal

Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran is part of a deal to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill in January, according to talkSPORT.

Cahill is expected to move to Stamford Bridge for £7m in January and Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to offer good friend Owen Coyle rising star McEachran on loan. The Bolton boss did his coaching badges with Villas-Boas and they struck up a friendship there. McEachran has failed to push into the first team so far this season and Coyle is interested in a loan move to help his side escape the relegation places.

Villas-Boas holds confidence in McEachran’s ability, but wants him to gain first-team experience elsewhere before coming back to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have entrusted Bolton in the maturation of the 19 year old, after they helped Daniel Sturridge evolve. Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Trotters last season and the England international has now got ten goals so far for Chelsea this season.

McEachran emerged last season as a potentially good midfielder for Chelsea, but has lost his first-team place under Villas-Boas. The 19 year old was tipped to make a move this summer, but was assured he had a spot in the side.
