Fernando Torres, according to Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, is not for sale to any side for any price, BBC
The Spanish international has struggled to recapture his best form since making the move from Liverpool to Chelsea in January. Torres cost the Blues £50m, but has had to watch from the bench this year as Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge have performed superbly for Chelsea. Villas-Boas is keen to keep Torres and insists that when he is called upon, the striker will perform.
Villas-Boas said: ‘It’s not true, he’s not available at any price. We are pretty sure when Fernando is called up, he will respond with the quality and talent he has. We have to make the best decisions for the team’.
Chelsea face Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday and Torres is again expected to be on the bench. Midfielder Frank Lampard could push for a start after his winner against Manchester City on Monday night and Villas-Boas has spoken over the midfielder’s complaints bout game time. The Chelsea boss believes that the club cannot please everybody and each player ‘must be treated equally’.
