Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is not content with a supporting role and is looking to replace Joe Hart in the City net, The
The 6ft 8in goalkeeper produced a brilliant performance midweek against Arsenal in the Carling Cup and earned the support of the 5,000 travelling City fans. Pantilimon found stardom in his native Romania with a stunning performance in a Euro 2012 qualifier against France in October. City have the option to buy the goalkeeper after his loan deal for around £3m.
Pantilimon is on a season-long loan from Timisoara, but his attitude and displays could see him make the deal permanent. The giant goalkeeper is happy to stay at City, but is not content with sitting on the bench and wants to be part of the first-team action.
The Romanian international said: ‘I just work to be ready when the team needs me. Right now, it is Joe playing, because he is a great player, a great keeper, but in every training session everybody fights and works to be in the squad. It is normal that everyone wants to play, but I have to wait for my chances and see what happens’.
