The early kick-off comes from Loftus Road as newly promoted QPR take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester United.
Neil Warnock’s side have performed admirably since their promotion from the Championship. Liverpool were much better than the R’s last weekend and goalkeeper Radek Cerny prevented Warnock’s side from a mauling. QPR striker DJ Campbell is ready for his first start since October after fracturing his metatarsal. Midfielder Kieron Dyer faces being out for the season after his foot injury requires surgery. The Loftus Road crowd will be raucuous against the Premier League champions.
United got back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory against Wolves at Old Trafford last weekend. Wayne Rooney was back amongst the goals with a double and is expected to start up front again for the champions. Sir Alex Ferguson was rocked this week by the news that midfielder Darren Fletcher is taking an extended break from football due to a chronic inflammatory bowel disorder. Fletcher’s injury is accompanied by captain Nemanja Vidic’s long term problem, but striker Dimitar Berbatov is back after ankle trouble to ease United’s injury woes.
United have been solid since their 6-1 loss to Man City and following a series of 1-0 wins and defensive built victories, they got back into top gear with a rampant win over Wolves. QPR could be the next victim for this wounded United animal and the reigning champions should win in an exciting game with Warnock’s men.
