Redknapp admits Anelka interest while Hoilett links continue

Blackburn playmaker Junior Hoilett and Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka are two players on the radar of Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, the Metro reports.

The North Londoners are on a 10 game unbeaten run and have pushed up towards the top of the table. Redknapp is desperate to get back into the Champions League and despite the current strength of his squad, he feels that he needs new faces. The Spurs boss has spoken of his admiration for Anelka, but has not made an offer yet.

Redknapp said: ‘I have always liked him (Anelka). I think he is a fantastic goalscorer, but he is not a player who I have made any enquiries about or mentioned to the chairman. Having said that, I wouldn’t stand here and say, “No, never”. It’s not a bad shout. He’s a good player’.

The other target, Hoilett, is out of contract at the end of the season and if a new deal cannot be agreed before the January window, a deal seems imminent. Rovers are unprepared to lose out on the 21 year old and a £7m bid should suffice for the struggling Lancashire side.
