Harry Redknapp could have landed himself in hot water with UEFA after reportedly making a fist gesture at Shamrock Rovers fans during Spurs’ 4-0 Europa League win, according to the Daily
Redknapp has denied responding to the fans’ taunts, saying, “Did I make an ‘obscene’ gesture? No.” However, he also criticised the abuse hurled at him by the Irish fans.
“I have spent enough time in Ireland to know what lovely people they are; if you go and meet them afterwards they are probably lovely people. But they get together and shout a loud of nonsense and that’s football. That’s life – I don’t hold any grudges.”
Redknapp also lauded his team’s performance, despite their failure to qualify. “We came and we did the job we had to do, but when you are in a situation like we were tonight and you are relying on another score, it is always difficult.”
