Redknapp rules out Modric January sale

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has warned any potential suitors that midfielder Luka Modric is not for sale at any cost, The Daily Express reports.

Modric was the target of summer interest from Chelsea and the Blues made three separate bids for the Croatian, which were all turned down. The 26 year old has been dazzling for Spurs over the two seasons and has seen interest from not only the Blues, but Real Madrid and Juventus fall at his feet. Redknapp is desperate to hold onto Modric, so that fellow star Gareth Bale is not inclined to leave White Hart Lane.

Redknapp is hoping Spurs can get back into the Champions League after a blistering start to the season and wants Modric in that squad for next year. The Croatian recently signed a six year deal with the North Londoners and Redknapp will keep Modric to that signature, which means warding off the interest from anyone who wants the midfielder.

‘We won’t be selling our best players or anyone we want to keep in January. We are keeping our best players and if anything, we will be adding to the squad not selling. That’s the message from me and the chairman. We won’t be weakening the squad’, Redknapp said.
