Szczesny confident ahead of Man City test

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes that Arsenal can continue to win ugly if they get three points, arsenal.com reports.

The Gunners gained a hard-fought 1-0 win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The difference between the two sides was a wonderful volley by Robin Van Persie and the Gunners goalkeeper ran over to his captain at the end of the game, kissing his feet once he got there. Szczesny was content with the victory, despite the free-flowing stuff Arsenal fans have seen over the past few games, and knows the importance of winning their home games.

Arsenal face Manchester City next weekend at the Etihad Stadium and the Polish goalkeeper will have to be on his toes to deal with the free-flowing football City play. Szczesny knows the game against City will be tough, but is looking for a repeat performance of last year where the Gunners won 3-0 against Roberto Mancini’s side.

Szczesny said: ‘We did not create a lot of chances and missed a couple in the first half. But we stuck together and got the all-important winning goal. It is vital to win these kinds of games – especially in December when there are a lot of matches and it is easy to drop points. We have a massive game against Manchester City coming up. They will be favourites this time but we are confident we can go there and get the three points’.
