United chase Biglia to beef up midfield

Lucas Biglia’s agent has claimed that Manchester United are interested in signing the Anderlecht midfielder, according to The Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old is also being monitored by Arsenal and Fiorentina with a view to a January transfer. United are desperate for a midfielder after injuries to Tom Cleverley, Anderson and Darren Fletcher have left them short in the centre of the midfield. Biglia has impressed in recent seasons and played well for Argentina in the Copa America earlier this year.

Biglia’s agent Enzo Montepaone has confirmed interest in the midfielder, but it is unclear whether Anderlecht are interested in selling the Argentinian. The Belgian side would want a bid of around £9m to prize their star midfielder away. Biglia has stated that he is looking to move, as his time at Anderlecht is drawing to an end. The Argentinian international’s contract expires in 2015 and United are determined to snatch Biglia away from the attention of Arsenal.

Montepaone said: “Fiorentina, Arsenal and Manchester United? The interest of those clubs is real.
