Van der Vaart set to return for Spurs against Norwich

Rafael van der Vaart will be fit to face Norwich this evening after the hamstring injury he sustained against Chelsea proved to be less serious than initially feared, according to BBC Sport.

The 28-year-old Dutchman was substituted at half time during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with top four rivals Chelsea, and Harry Redknapp initially stated that he had suffered a hamstring tear which would have kept him out until the New Year. However, Redknapp later revealed that scans had provided good news.

“He went for a scan and it didn’t show a tear,” he said. “I think he probably had a bit of cramp in there where he’s had a problem before, a bit of tightness he felt maybe might go, so he took the precaution of not playing on it. He looks ok, he looks like he could be fit.”
