Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is sure that captain John Terry is in the right frame of mind to play against Tottenham tonight, ESPN
Terry was charged on Wednesday with ‘a racially aggravated public order offence’, but is included in the Blues starting line-up for their fixture against Spurs tonight. The Blues need a victory against Harry Redknapp’s side at White Hart Lane or face the possibility of being out of the title race so early. Terry faces West London Magistrates Court on February 1st, which will be four days before Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge.
Villas-Boas has backed his captain and has promised that the club will support him whole-heartedly. Terry released a statement to say he was ‘disappointed’ with the decision and will have to shake off the allegations against Spurs.
The Chelsea boss said: ‘John has told me he is in the right frame of mind to play and showed fantastic commitment to the team. His performances have been good and I don’t doubt his integrity as a person. He represents this club to a maximum level and we’re very grateful to have a player of his quality in our team, in what he represents in terms of history and achievements at the club.’
