Andre Villas-Boas has called on a ‘radical change’ in performance as the reason why Chelsea are back on form, The
The Blues may be 11 points away from league leaders Manchester City, but their draw at White Hart Lane on Thursday sees them two points behind Tottenham in the table. Chelsea sit fourth and know that a win over Fulham in the lunchtime kick-off will put them third temporarily before Tottenham play Norwich tomorrow. Villas-Boas believes he has now found the right tactical balance in his side, which has seen them be unbeaten in their last five games.
Villas-Boas said: ‘Now that we have found our route – and at Spurs we played it to an extent that was massive – it was an honour and a privilege to see this team play football. For me, it’s all good signs. Irrespective of what the result was, I think this is a radical change in the way Chelsea play and I think it was fantastic to see that we could do that and have the ability to play this football’.
Chelsea have a good run of games up until February, where they should really pick up a lot of points. Villas-Boas side face only one side who are in the top half of the table currently in tbeir next six fixtures before kicking off February against champions Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.Villas-Boas knows his squad will have to be used fully and will look to have points on the board before players such as Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel go to the African Cup of nations in January.
