The Gunners are facing the prospect of finishing below Tottenham in the league table for the first time since 1995. Arsene Wenger’s side are five points behind Spurs and have also played a game more than their counterparts. Tottenham have been scintillating this season and have surged into third place in the table. Arsenal dropped two vital points at home to Wolves last time out and will need to pick up all three points when they face QPR tomorrow.
Walcott has been a consistent performer so far this season for the Gunners and is looking to climb up the table past Spurs. However, the England international insists that Arsenal must not become preoccupied with Spurs and just continue to win games and progress next year.
The 22 year old said: ‘We don’t have to worry about anyone else, we have to concentrate on each game. Maybe we are thinking too far ahead, or thinking too much about Tottenham potentially finishing above us. Hopefully, we can make sure that doesn’t happen, but we have to take things on a game-by-game basis.
‘I think that can be a problem, we cannot worry about wanting teams to drop points when we should be concentrating on ourselves’, Walcott said.
