Wenger confident ahead of Man City clash

Arsene Wenger has full confidence that his Arsenal side can beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon, BBC Sport reports.

The Gunners are in-form, winning seven out of their last eight games. City were beaten by Chelsea on Monday night, losing their unbeaten record in the process, and will be eager to bounce back. Roberto Mancini’s side have won every game at home in the league this season, but Wenger believes that his group of players have the skills to beat City.

Wenger said: ‘Their home form is absolutely exceptional and it is a massive test for us. If we play our best, I think we can beat anybody. We can beat City. We are on the way of recovery, but we have a big, big test on Sunday and let’s see how we survive that test.’

The Gunners sit in fifth, nine points from the leaders, and know that a defeat against City will make it difficult for them to compete for the title. Wenger will see Thomas Vermaelen deputise at left-back due to the injuries for Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs.
