Arsene Wenger has urged Arsenal fans to show patience with South Korean international Park Ju-Young, The
The Gunners striker has made four appearances for the club since his summer move from Monaco, but none of them have come in the Premier League. Ju-Young has shown glimpses of what he can do and has one goal to his name, which was a well-taken finish in the Carling Cup victory over Bolton. The 26 year old is South Korea captain and has formed a big name for himself in Asian football, but Wenger insists that he has to acclimatise to the pace of the Premier League.
Wenger said: ‘It has been difficult because I have not given him the chance to play and the intensity of the challenges – some players take short, others take long. But it takes you time. You see a player like (Laurent) Koscielny year, he was still sometimes surprised by the physical demands of the game. This year, he is dominating the physical challenge, that shows it takes time’.
Ju-Young could get his chance when Arsenal forwards Gervinho and Maraoune Chamakh travel to the African Cup of Nations. The pair will be away for a month and the South Korean international is expected to play more of a role. Arsenal take on Wolves at the Emirates Stadium in their re-arranged fixture following the London Underground drivers’ strike. The game was supposed to take place on Boxing Day, but was put back 24 hours.
