Woodgate, 31, signed for Spurs from Middlesborough in 2008, but his time at the club was plagued by injury, and Tottenham opted not to renew his deal when it expired in the summer. “They’re a great side and I wish them all the luck in the world,” he told post-match reporters. “I think they’ll go close to winning the league, if not this year, then the next year. I think Spurs are an unbelievable team – different class.”
