Ancelotti insists Chelsea must sell Drogba to allow Torres opportunity

Paris Saint Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti believes Chelsea have to sell Didier Drogba, if they want Fernando Torres to blossom at Stamford Bridge, ESPN Soccernet reports.

Ancelotti was former manager of the Blues and signed Torres for £50m from Liverpool last January. The Spanish international has struggled since he moved to Stamford Bridge and has scored just five goals in 41 appearances for Chelsea. PSG have been waiting in the wings to sign Drogba all summer and Ancelotti’s recent appointment at the Parc des Princes may force a deal for the Ivorian. Drogba is on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations, but could fly to Paris if a deal need to be completed this January.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has tried to ward Ancelotti off from signing his players, but the Italian has spoken again about what is happening with Drogba and Torres. The Ivorian turns 34 in March and the former Blues manager believes that Villas-Boas must keep Torres and sell Drogba.

Ancelotti said: ‘Coaching Chelsea in the midst of a major generational charge is complicated. Look at Torres and his crisis. If you are decide you are going to invest in him, you have to sell Drogba. Didier is like Pippo Inzaghi at Milan. He tends to swallow up all his competitors. It is not because they are evil; they are just like that’.
