Arsenal and Liverpool retain interest in Keisuke Honda

CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda is still reportedly a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool, though the Premier League duo face competition from French outfit Paris St-Germain, according to Crunch Sports and Japanese sports publication Sports Nippon.

The 25-year-old Japan international was first linked with a move to Anfield a year ago, and the interest has reportedly not died down, though PSG are thought to have already launched a €13m bid to land the man described by Gunners manager Arsene Wenger as a “genius” when on the ball.

Top-flight rivals Man Utd were also previously linked with the creative midfielder, who was also a trending topic on Twitter last August amid reports that the player was on his way to London for a medical at the Emirates. Liverpool’s interest, meanwhile, is thought to stem from sponsors Standard Chartered, who have advised the Anfield outfit to tap into the Asian market, with the club adopting a similar philosophy to their north west rivals Utd’s signing of Park Ji-Sung, with the thinking that this proves a viable method of Premier League clubs reaching Asia.
