Arsenal have been put on red alert to sign Scott Dann after the Blackburn defender is reportedly weighing up his future, according to The
The former Birmingham City defender only signed for Blackburn at the start of this season and was promised that the club’s best players would not be sold. Rovers captain Chris Samba has handed in a transfer request and Dann is now considering a move away from Ewood Park, should the Congolese international leave. Dann held talks with the Gunners before deciding to move to Blackburn and has just returned from fitness after a month out with a ruptured testicle.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the 24 year old and is interested in making an offer in this January transfer window. Wenger will have to hold off competition from Liverpool, Aston Villa and Everton to sign the former England under 21 centre-back. Dann is seeking immediate talks with Blackburn boss Steve Kean to see which direction the club is headed in.
Dann could be signed as a replacement for Sebastian Squillaci, who is being touted for a return to French side Monaco. Squillaci has failed to settle at the Emirates Stadium and Monaco have told the Gunners they want a decision on the deal in seven days.
