Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid prospect Alvaro Morata, but face difficulty in prizing the youngster away from Spain, according to talkSPORT.
The 19 year old has scored 22 goals in 45 appearances for Madrid B and scouts from across Europe are looking at Morata’s progress in the Spanish Segunda. Morata has made his full debut for Jose Mourinho’s side, but is not in their immediate plans and Arsenal are looking to bring him to England. Wenger’s development of young players is well recognised across Europe, but Morata is keen to stay in Spain and be closer to his family.
Morata moved from Getafe to Madrid in 2008 and is keen for more first-team opportunities following difficulty to break into the first team at the Santiago Bernabeau. La Liga side Sevilla are interested in the 19 year old and have the better chance of signing Morata, after his intentions of staying in Spain were made clear.
The Gunners wanted to sign the 19 year old on loan for the rest of the season and see if he was capable of playing in the top flight, but Morata wants a more permanent deal. Sevilla are ready to take the risk on the Spain under 21 international and Arsenal will miss out on the striker. Wenger is desperate to try and sign a new forward having lost out on Cologne’s Lukas Podolski as well as Morata in this transfer window.
