Arsenal youngster in trouble with police

The future of Arsenal youngster Pedro Botelho is in doubt after he drove into a police car and then failed a breathalyser test, The Daily Mail reports.

Botelho is currently on loan at Spanish second division side Rayo Vallecano and was arrested by police officers in Madrid during the early hours of Monday morning. The 22 year old Brazilian reversed his car into a police vehicle and then sped off, but was stopped by police minutes later. Botelho then failed a breathalyser test and also does not hold the appropriate licence to drive in Spain.

The incident has left the Brazilian’s long-term future with Arsenal in serious doubt. Gunners officials are expected to make a decision on Botelho’s future following an investigation by Spanish police. The 22 year old could face the sack if Arsenal class the offence as gross misconduct, which is a breach of his contract.

Botelho has been at Arsenal since 2007 and has been on loan at various clubs across Spain. The 22 year old is rated highly by Arsene Wenger and the left back could have been the problem to Arsenal’s defensive problems before this unfortunate incident. Botelho has been in trouble before with Vallecano, as he has missed training in the past and stated that he was ‘looking forward to a change of scenery’.
