Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel is unsure about whether he will be sent out on loan in the January transfer window or remain at the Emirates Stadium, The
The Gunners had planned to send the 19 year old out on loan, but after a spate of injuries, Miquel may be required to stay for first team duty with Arsenal. Miquel has played eight times this season due to a spate of defensive injuries at Arsenal, where Arsene Wenger is without a recognised first-team full back. The Spaniard has spoken of how he was supposed to go on loan to a Championship side before the injuries in the Arsenal defence, but now he expects to stay.
Miquel said: ‘Before the injuries, I had in my head to go on loan to the Championship but now with this, I’ve not spoken to anyone. If they can sign someone or Kieran Gibbs comes back, we’ll see if I stay here or go on loan. In the last two or three years, I have been playing at centre-back, so it’s quite hard for me to get back to left-back.’
Arsenal are looking into the possibility of a short-term loan signing whilst their full-backs are injured and have scouted Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge as that transfer. The 30 year old is out-of-favour at the Etihad Stadium and Arsenal would bring Bridge on loan until the end of the season.
