Bassong open to Spurs departure

Sebastian Bassong is ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur due to a lack of playing time at White Hart Lane, according to ESPN.

The Cameroonian defender has played just five times in the Premier League this season, making just one start, and has fallen behind Ledley King, William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul in the pecking order.

“Whether I stay or go, we must find a solution,” said Bassong. “I need to play. The manager and the chairman, they understand my position. But football is business.”

The 25-year-old signed for Spurs from Newcastle in 2009, but is now being linked with a move to either Queens Park Rangers or West Ham.

He is the latest player to voice his intention to move on from the club, with Niko Kranjcar, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Heurelho Gomes all reportedly keen to follow suit.
