Cech expects new Chelsea deal

Petr Cech has revealed that he expects to extend his stay with the club in the coming weeks, but cannot promise to end his career at Chelsea, The Mirror reports.

The 29 year old has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in European football since joining Chelsea from French side Rennes in 2004 for £7m. Chelsea signed young Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer and sent him on loan to Atletico Madrid for experience. Andre Villas-Boas is interested in selling some of the iconic players that Chelsea have won titles with and has already sold Nicolas Anelka. Alex is the next out of Stamford Bridge and reports this morning link Frank Lampard with a move away from the club.

Cech is expected to sign a new short-term deal with the Blues , but has not given guarantees that he will end his career at the club. The Czech Republic international has not been in the best of form this season, but is still hopeful Chelsea will give him a new deal for his years of service.

The goalkeeper said: ‘It is difficult to leave the best league in the world and if you take a look around, you will not see many teams of Chelsea’s category that would be looking to sign a new goalkeeper. If I would like to try something new, then it would have to be a club of similar level to Chelsea. You never know, everything happens fast in the football life. I’m 29 years old and I believe that there is time for a possible change. I think I will sign a new deal and we will not have a problem’.
