Chelsea defender Alex eyes PSG switch

Chelsea’s Alex is set to snub QPR for a £4m reunion with former manager Carlo Ancelotti at PSG, according to The Mail.

Brazilian Alex, 29, has been at Chelsea since 2004, making 87 league appearances for the London club. He enjoyed his longest spell in the first team in the 2008-09 season; however, he has only made one Premier League appearance this season, and since submitting a transfer request at the start of December has been training with the Chelsea reserves. New QPR manager Mark Hughes had been confident of securing the defender’s services with a £4 million bid earlier in January, but it seems that a prospect of a reunion with Ancelotti proved too good for the Brazilian to turn down.

Further rumours have linked Frank Lampard with following Alex and making the switch to PSG. Over the past couple of months, the media has speculated on a potential rift between England international Lampard and manager Andre Villas Boas, though this has been strenuously denied by both parties.
