Chelsea deny Alex QPR deal agreed

Chelsea have denied agreeing a fee with QPR over the sale of Brazilian defender Alex, but are still looking to offload the defender, The Daily Mail reports.

Sources close to QPR suggested that the club had agreed a fee with Chelsea for the 29 year old defender and were looking to open negotiations with Alex this week. The Blues have categorically denied any fee agreed for Alex and have only confirmed that they rejected a bid for the defender earlier in the window. The 29 year old asked to be put on the transfer list at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season and his request was accepted by Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, who has subsequently frozen him away from the first team.

Villas-Boas has commented on the situation saying: ‘I’m sure that the clubs can reach an agreement, if they continue to push. We know Alex’s market value and we’re just not going to let him go quite easily, not that QPR’s offer is far, far off. He is a player that has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs and from abroad.’

Even if QPR can agree a deal, there are no certainties whether the 29 year old Brazilian international would want to move across West London. Alex has been linked with a move to French side Paris Saint Germain, who are managed by former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian is also being earmarked by Italian giants Juventus and Brazilian side Santos and Alex is considering his options before deciding who he will negotiate with.
