Chelsea offer Bosingwa to former boss Ancelotti at PSG

Chelsea have contacted French side Paris Saint Germain over offloading defender Jose Bosingwa before the end of the January transfer window, The Daily Mail reports. The Blues are hoping to recoup part of the £16.3m they spent on the Portuguese defender in 2008.

Bosingwa is out of contract at the end of the season and is refusing to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, which would mean he leaves for nothing. The Chelsea right back is a regular under Andre Villas-Boas this season, but his reluctance to sign a new deal has meant that chairman Roman Abramovich wants to sell him in January. Former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is at the helm at PSG and may be interested in signing the 29 year old to boost his new side’s chances of winning the French title.

Ancelotti is also on the verge of completing a £4m deal for Brazilian defender Alex from Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are hoping it will be a double swoop. Clubs may not be interested in Bosingwa this month, when they know they can sign the 29 year old on a free transfer in the summer. The Portuguese international wants a longer deal than currently offered and believes he is entitled to his terms, having made 24 appearances already this season.

Villas-Boas will pick the Portuguese right back regardless of whether a deal is arranged and the Chelsea boss will be looking for summer replacements if Bosingwa moves on. Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta has been earmarked as a replacement after an impressive season under former Blues player Didier Deschamps, but Chelsea would have to pay around £15m for the Spaniard. Azpilicueta is open to a move to Stamford Bridge, but is still contracted with OM until 2014 and the French side are not interested in selling yet.
