Chelsea are lining up a summer move for Sao Paulo youngster Lucas Moura, according to The
The 19-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder was on FIFA’s list of players to watch in 2011, and was Sao Paulo’s joint top scorer last season with thirteen goals. Despite his young age, he also already has ten caps and one goal for the Brazilian national team.
In the Brazilian media, Lucas has stated that he is receptive to a move to Chelsea, but only in the summer transfer window, so the club have elected to respect his wishes by holding off on a bid until then. The release clause in his contract is thought to be around £67 million, but Chelsea will be hoping they can agree a deal with Sao Paulo for a far lower fee. However, by then they may have competition from some of Europe’s other top clubs, with several others thought to be keeping an eye on the Brazilian youngster’s development.
