Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was furious with the performance of his side after they were beaten 3-1 by Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, The
Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina called for his side to focus on Bolton before they think about their two cup games with Manchester City and Manchester United in the next week, but Liverpool were far from focused. The Reds are now seventh in the Premier League table and are six points away from fourth place. Dalglish was incensed at the way his side performed and lambasted their performance in his post-match interview.
Dalglish said: ‘They will not be here for much longer if that is the way they perform. We expect a much higher standard than that. It is all very well saying they might be distracted by a game on Wednesday, but every game is a massive game for us. If it is a one-off, fine, but if it is going to be repeated then there will not be too many repeating their appearances in a red shirt because we won’t stand for that.’
Liverpool have the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final at Anfield against City on Wednesday, which is then followed by a FA Cup fourth round clash with United. Dalglish may change his team drastically for the game against the Premier League leaders on Wednesday and was incensed at how some of his players believed they could turn up, not try and still get three points against the struggling Bolton.
