Dalglish delighted following Oldham FA Cup victory

Kenny Dalglish believes there were plenty of things Liverpool can be happy with following their 5-1 win over Oldham in the FA Cup on Friday night, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

The Reds booked their place in the fourth round draw with a comprehensive performance and scoreline against the League One side. Liverpool were forced to come from behind, but their class was on show and completed the win easily. Dalglish admits that the scoreline was flattering, but believes his side were the deserved winners.

Dalglish said: ‘The scoreline is a bit flattering. Oldham did their club and manager proud. It’s a while since some of the players who haven’t played as much as the others have had a game, so it was important for us to give them a run out as well. It showed they needed games. There was nothing wrong with their application, but they did lose a goal’.

The Liverpool boss now prepares his side for a difficult couple of weeks as they face Manchester City in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday night. Dalglish’s side then have two Premier League games against Stoke and away at Bolton before the second leg against City. The Reds are looking to reach Wembley twice this season and have gone one step further to that with their FA Cup win last night.
