Dalglish wants more luck in 2012

Kenny Dalglish is hopeful that the New Year will bring Liverpool the good fortune their impressive displays so far this season have warranted, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

Dalglish’s side have hit the woodwork 17 times this season and have drawn six games at Anfield. Liverpool should have more points than they have accumulated, but sit nicely in sixth place with a trip to league leaders Manchester City on Tuesday. Dalglish is hopeful his side will have more luck in 2012 and believes that they have to produce a good performance at the Etihad Stadium.

The Liverpool boss said: ‘As I’ve said many times before, I don’t think the players have had their reward for the performances they deserve. Maybe January 3rd is going to be the game we get the little bit we deserve for the great play, effort and commitment the players have put in. We’ll keep our fingers crossed. To get 2011 out of the way was good for us, because I don’t think we’ve had too much luck in the matches we’ve played in the first part of the season’.

A trip to the leaders is a daunting way to start the New Year and City are unbeaten at home so far this season. Liverpool were unfortunate not to take all three points from the sides meeting at Anfield in November and Dalglish’s men will be confident they can upset City once again.
