Dempsey puts Arsenal on alert

Fulham attacking midfielder Clint Dempsey has admitted to his dream of playing in the Premier League, with Arsenal waiting in the wings to make his dream a reality, according to Metro.

Dempsey, 28, has been in scintillating form for the Cottagers this season, scoring 15 goals in 30 appearances, and becoming the most prolific American goalscorer in the Premier League’s history in the process. He also became the first American to score a hat-trick in the Premier League with his three goals in Fulham’s recent 5-2 win over Newcastle.

Despite his form for Fulham, Dempsey has loftier ambitions – speaking to Metro, he said, “You should never get content – I want to play in the Champions League. Nobody thought I would get this far. I want to go as far as I can.”

Arsenal declared an interest in the midfielder in the summer, but were rebuffed by Fulham’s £10 million asking price. However, with the Gunners struggling to find a free-scoring balance, Wenger may be tempted to enlist Dempsey’s services to bolster their top four push.
