Fulham boss hails Arsenal Henry signing

Fulham manager Martin Jol has hailed the short-term loan deal Arsenal have arranged for legend striker Thierry Henry, The Guardian reports.

Henry returns to North London on a two month deal from MLS side New York Red Bulls after impressing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with his fitness levels in training. The 34 year old has been training with Arsenal since the end of the MLS season and Wenger has brought the club’s all-time record goalscorer back to the Emirates Stadium for a final swansong.

Jol will not face Henry in his side’s game with Arsenal today, as the Frenchman is not eligible to play. The Fulham boss believes that the signing of Henry is fantastic and he could still make a difference with Arsenal. Henry scored 226 goals in eight years at Arsenal and was part of the Invincibles side that went unbeaten in the 2003/2004 season.

‘It is fantastic. He is a legend. I played against him with Spurs (as a manager) and he was always making the difference as a player. He was training there (at Arsenal), but I don’t think a lot of people saw that coming because a couple of months ago, they said they weren’t thinking about it. But if he trained with us, I would probably ask him as well’, the Fulham boss said.
