Ghana under 20 midfielder Mumuni Abubakar is hopeful of securing a move to Liverpool following a recent trial at Melwood, ESPN
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish invited Abubakar to Merseyside following a tip from his scouting network and the 18 year old spent a fortnight at Liverpool working with the club. Abubakar, who plays for New Edubiase United, feels he made a good impression on the coaching staff at Anfield and is hopeful of signing a deal with the Premier League side.
Abubakar said: ‘They were impressed by my performances during training and the match that I played. The technical team like my style of play, so hopefully they will sign me. When you go to trials, they talk to your agent and not you; the player. Liverpool is talking with my agent (Oliver Arthur) now. They’re impressed with my performances, so we should get a favourable response’.
Liverpool have a current trend of signing young players that will improve their squad in the future. Reds director of football Damien Comolli has signed Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll, Sebastian Coates, Viliyan Bijev and also have Swedish striker Abdul Aziz on trial as well as Abubakar.
