Henry and Arteta set for Arsenal return

Thierry Henry and Mikel Arteta are set to hand Arsenal a boost by returning from injury for the FA Cup tie against Aston Villa on Sunday, reports The Sun.

The pair missed the 2-1 loss to Manchester United two days ago with calf injuries; it is understood that although 34-year-old Henry could potentially have played a part, his fitness was not considered 100%, and Wenger chose not to risk the veteran striker. Arteta, meanwhile, has been sidelined for the last two Premier League games, but expects to return for the fourth-round FA Cup tie.

Elsewhere on the pitch, there could be an easing in Arsenal’s defensive personnel injury crisis, with Barcary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs both returning to training this week after periods out. Midfielder Jack Wilshere, however, is still missing after ankle surgery at the start of the season, though the young England international hopes to make a return to full training by early February.
