Henry backs Arsenal for top four

Arsenal forward Thierry Henry believes his side have what it takes to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, but have a major challenge on their hands, arsenal.com reports.

The Gunners lie in fifth spot after a resurgent pre-Christmas period recovering from their nightmare start to the season. Arsene Wenger has spent 15 seasons at Arsenal and has never finished out of the Champions League qualification places during that time. However, with the threat of Chelsea and Liverpool for the fourth place in the Premier League, the Gunners have a lot of work to do to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition.

Henry was signed on a two month loan from MLS side New York Red Bulls and made an instant impact by scoring the winner against Leeds in the FA Cup third round tie on Monday night. The Frenchman is ready to play any part in Arsenal’s qualification push, but Henry acknowledges that the side have to keep confidence despite the size of their task.

‘We obviously don’t want to be out of the top four. There’s going to be a hell of a competition this year to be in it. But I do think this team has what it takes to be in it, if you think about the way the team has come back from the beginning of the season’, Henry said.
