Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic admits to being flattered with reports linking him to a move down south to Liverpool, The
The 26 year old Croatian has been linked with a move to England for some time and Liverpool have faced rivalry from West Brom and Sunderland for Jelavic. Rangers manager Ally McCoist had hoped Jelavic would stay on at Ibrox, but the Croatian admits he would be ‘fine’ with a move south. The Gers are financially-stricken and could cash in on their star striker, who has scored 33 goals in 46 starts for the Scottish champions.
Liverpool are desperate for a goalscoring striker and have been rebuffed for Darren Bent by Aston Villa. The Reds are looking to the Croatian and Jelavic could make the move by the end of the month. Jelavic is valued around £10m by Rangers and Liverpool are ready to beat their Premier League rivals for the signing. The Rangers striker has admitted he knows nothing about any interest from clubs such as Liverpool, but accepts that if the club have to sell, he will make the move.
Jelavic said: ‘Every day it appears a new club wants me and that’s a little ridiculous. I know nothing about any offers. I just want to concentrate on Rangers. Of course I am flattered about Liverpool, but I do not know how much truth there is.’
