Koscielny – Champions League qualification in our own hands

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny believes that their ambition to reach the Champions League lies in their own hands and they must capitalise, arsenal.com reports.

The Gunners sit in fourth position following their 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. Arsene Wenger’s side still have Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham to play at home before the end of the season, which will be vitally important games. Arsenal started the season horrifically, but have revived their fortunes to sit just 11 points away from league leaders Manchester City.

Koscielny knows that the home form will be vitally important for Arsenal this season and they must beat the teams around them at the Emirates, if they want to reach the top four. The Gunners have only lost once at home in the league this season, which came against Liverpool early in the season, and the French defender is looking to keep a good home record until the end of the season.

The French international said: ‘It was very important to win (against QPR), because we drew against Wolves and we wanted to win this game and we did. It is good for us that we are fourth, so we need to stay in fourth spot and maybe even get to third. We work every day to get stronger. We know we play at home against Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, so we have the cards in our hands.’
