Frank Lampard may miss Chelsea’s vital clash with second placed Manchester United after tearing a calf muscle in Saturday’s goalless draw with Norwich, according to The
Post match scans confirmed the small tear to the calf muscle after Lampard was helped from the pitch in the 36th minute of the game against the Canaries. He is expected to undergo further treatment on the injury during the Chelsea squad’s time at a training camp in Mallorca over the coming week, but the prognosis is that the injury may keep him out of action for up to three weeks.
Lampard has been in and out of the Chelsea starting eleven recently, amid rumours of discontent between him and manager Andre Villas-Boas. However, he has none-the-less amassed 11 goals and 5 assists in his 26 appearances so far this season. The 33-year-old’s latest injury will mean he definitely misses the FA Cup tie with QPR this weekend, and may struggle to recover for the game against United on February 5.
