Chelsea have told Frank Lampard they will not allow him to join a Premier League rival, but he is free to move abroad, The
Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has taken over at French side Paris Saint Germain and is looking for a top-class midfielder to add to his side. Lampard’s relationship with current Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has reportedly broken down in recent weeks and the England international is ready to make a move away from Stamford Bridge. Manchester United approached Chelsea over the availability of Lampard earlier this week, but were swiftly rejected.
The 33 year old still has 18 months on his contract and Chelsea are reportedly interested in releasing the midfielder from his contract to allow him to move abroad. Lampard earns £150,000 a week at Stamford Bridge and the Blues are looking to get him off the wage bill. LA Galaxy are interested in the England international, but Lampard is not looking to move to the MLS. Paris could be an option for Lampard, as the French capital has close travel links with London.
Close friend Joe Cole is already playing in Ligue One at Lille on a season-long loan, which is expected to be made permanent in the summer. Qatari backed PSG are one of the few sides who could match Lampard’s wages and are expected to make an enquiry next week.
