Liverpool target Hoilett likey to stay at Blackburn says father

Junior Hoilett’s father has revealed that the Blackburn winger will not make a reported move to Liverpool this month, The Mirror reports.

The Reds are interested in the young winger, who has sparkled at Ewood Park in a difficult season for Steve Kean’s side. Hoilett has seen club captain Christopher Samba hand in a transfer request and many felt the Canadian would follow Samba out of Ewood Park. However, the 21 year old will stay at Blackburn and snub advances from Kenny Dalglish’s side.

David Hoilett Sr. said: ‘It may not be within Blackburn’s best interests to off-load him considering what is going on with Samba at the moment. I can’t really see them letting both of them go at the same time and with Junior’s contract ending at the end of the year, the value they could get for Junior would be less than what they would get for Samba.’

Hoilett Sr. then went on to say that unless Blackburn have good replacements, his son would not be making a move away from Ewood Park. Liverpool are keen to bolster their attacking options and see the young Canadian as a perfect signing. Blackburn have not been approached by any club so far for the 21 year old, who has made 17 league starts this season and scored three goals.
