Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila will not be exiting the French side this January, but could make a move in the summer, according to talkSPORT.
Liverpool have held a long-term interest in the Rennes midfielder, but will face competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and Italian giants Inter Milan. The Reds were hoping to seal a deal this month, but Rennes are unwilling to sell until after M’Vila has played at the European Championship. M’Vila’s price will increase with a good performance at Euro 2012 and Rennes may be prepared to cash in on the Frenchman in the summer.
M’Vila’s agent Tim Hager said: ‘Yann is happy in Rennes. I have checked with the club and they have assured me there is no intention to sell him. At the end of the season we will talk about his future. He is a player that has been admired for a long time.’
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is looking to add some steel to his midfield and with Lucas Leiva’s season-ending knee injury, signing M’Vila in January would have been a perfect solution. The French side are expected to ask for £20m to sign the 21 year old midfielder and Liverpool will have to act quickly to stop Inter Milan making a move. Claudio Ranieri is keen on M’Vila and will test the water with an opening bid before the end of the window.
