Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is open to a loan move next season if he fails to get more first-team opportunities this season, ESPN
The 18 year old Belgian signed for Chelsea this summer from Anderlecht and completed a dream move to the side he supported as a child. Lukaku scored 31 goals in two seasons with the Belgian side, but has struggled to break into the first-team picture this season. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has played Lukaku seven times this season, but is reluctant to offer him more opportunities in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku is seen as a player for the future and Villas-Boas has started to move the older players out of the Blues squad by selling Nicolas Anelka to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua. With Didier Drogba at the African Cup of Nations, Lukaku could see more opportunities in the first team. However, if the Belgian does not get enough chances, he is open to a loan move next season.
‘If my situation at Chelsea does not evolve between now and the end of the season, it may be better to be loaned out for a season. A loan this season is not possible, as I have already played for two different clubs. If this situation endures, it might be better to play for another club for a year and then come back. But let’s see what happens in the next six months’, Lukaku said.
