The 20 year old Italian, who has made three Premier League appearances as a substitute this season, also spent time on loan at Italian side Sampdoria last season. Macheda is down in the pecking order at Old Trafford and has been sent to QPR for vital Premier League experience. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson still believes in Macheda’s abilities, but wants him to play regularly in the Premier League before bringing him back to Old Trafford.
Macheda hit the headlines when he scored an injury-time winner against Aston Villa at Old Trafford in 2009, but failed to capitalise on that goal. QPR boss Neil Warnock has revealed what a wonderful opportunity it is to have Macheda on loan and the Italian is happy to make the move also.
‘There is a lot of competition at Manchester United; there are some very good strikers there. But I am still young and I need to get more experience in the Premier League’, Macheda said.
