Man Utd lead race for Crystal Palace defender

Manchester United are monitoring Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne, with a view to a potential £3m move to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.

Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be in the market for a right-back, with the injury to Rafael meaning centre-backs, most notably Chris Smalling, have had to fill in on the right side of defence.

Palace are expecting to lose the player at the end of the season, having failed to agree a renewal of his contract, and a January bid would likely be acceptable to the club in order to minimise their losses on the England under-21 international.
